UK/US Swap Product Swatches pt.1

I few posts ago I shared a few pictures of products I received in a UK/US Swap I did with Katrina from Mountain Beauty. Here is my first post featuring a few of those products with swatches.

First off the Rimmel London Apocalips lip lacquers. Can I just say WOW, these are so pigmented and smooth. These are now available in the US, but are called Rimmel Show Off .This formula can't be matched, and these colors are perfect for me. I would have picked the same ones if I had bought them myself.

Next the Rimmel London Scandaleyes. These are just gorgeous, again perfect color selection for me. rose gold color is my obsession. They are very creamy and set nicely. I've worn them under the lash line with no issues. I'm not sure if these are in the US yet, but its worth checking out your local drugstore.

These lipsticks are from the brand Astor, this brand is not available at all in the states. This is a grand sold in Germany. This are from the Hidi Klum collection, I was pleasantly surprised with these lipsticks. The formula was great, very moisturizing and pigmented. Very much like L'Oreal lipsticks.

I also received some pressed pigments from the same brand Astor and a lose pigment from the UK brand BarryM. These Astor shadows are similar to the L'Oreal Infallible eye shadows, they have the plastic stopper under the cap. They are also nicely pigmented. The BarryM pigment was quite nice as well, I can see myself using it as an everyday all over the lid color.

Lastly are these chubby stick style lip balms from the brands Catrice Cosmetics, Soap and Glory, and MUA Makeup Academy. These all were vary nice and moisturizing but very sheer. These are similar to the Revlon just kissable lip balms, but are more sheer. Not sticky, they are more of a gloss. The one with the most color pay off was the MUA one in the color Crazy In Love.

Stay tuned for more swatches from the other products I received.

UK/US Swap with Mountain Beauty

The one thing I've enjoyed the most about blogging is the online beauty community. It's so fun connecting with so many other girls obsessed with makeup like I am. Another cool thing about that is that a lot of these new friends are from all over the world.

I had the privilege to do a beauty swap with Katrina from Mountain Beauty, you can also follow her in twitter HERE and you can also read her post about out swap HERE.

It was really fun pick out new products that might not be available in the UK. And it was fun receiving so many cool products that I can't get here in the US.

Here are a few pictures of some of my favorite things.

These weren't all the things I received, just some of my favorite. Be sure to stay tuned for review/swatch posts on these and some of the other products I received.
Thanks again to Katrina for doing this swap with me, I really enjoyed picking out products to send you.
Don't forget to go check out her post here.

June 2013 BOXYCHARM

This is my second BOXYCHARM box, and I must say, it only OK. All good products, but I have a few of these already. All the products in this months box are useful, good quality and obviously full sized, a great box, but I have similar products in my collection to all of these.

Not sure what color eyes this is designed for. Hopefully brown.

This brush seems real interesting.

This is one thing I don't have and I can't wait to try it out. My hair can always use a little help in the anti-frizz department.
As you can tell I didn't really swatch these. Like I said I have a lot of these already in my collection so I plan on using some of these for giveaways, swaps or just giving them to my cousin. The lip gloss is for sure going to her. Since she is darker than me, I see it working well with her skin tone. I have the gloss in another shade and love it. I know she will too.

BOXYCHARM May 2013

First let me begin by explaining a little bit about BoxyCharm. I saw a few girls on instagram had received a box for review and that made me want to check it out. BoxyCharm is a new monthly Subscription service similar to Birchbox and Ipsy.
This box cost $21 a month, and is filled with 5-6 fill sized products. Unlike other boxes this focuses on drugstore brands like Revlon, Covergirl, Rimmel, Sally Hansen, Essie etc.

My apologies in advance for the lighting in some of these pictures.

Let me say, I'm really impressed with my first box. My favorite item has to be the red lipstick from the Kate Moss for Rimmel collection, in number 11. I was really excited to see a small brush kit. The brushes are soft  and convenient but obviously not as high quality as other drugstore brushed like ecotools. Another product I was excited about was the Essie polish in meet me at sunset. I can see this polish on my toes all summer.

One last thing to note about Boxycharm, a lot of people have shown concern about the product they sent out. Boxy charm issued a statement on their instagram stating how they get their products. They purchase their products from the warehouses and third party vendors. In my opinion the boxes are kind of like when you go to an CCO. They take advantage of companies changing packing or having overstock items. For example if its spring, you might get Essie polish from the holiday collection or a polish they had overstock of. Boxycharm has assured us that every product they choose is hand selected by them and is not old or expired.

I personally have no issues with this concept, to me its the same as going to an CCO and getting a discount on an old MAC collection or Bobbi Brown concealer in old packaging (I've done both). I'm excited to see what next month brings.
